Dubai, 14th May
Last night, members and friends of the Spanish Business Council, together with members of more than 10 business councils based in Dubai, experienced and Iftar or “breaking of fast” at one of the traditional houses in Al Fahidi Historic District. This cultural Iftar is one of the activities offered by The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU).
The gathering for the Iftar commenced approximately 30 minutes before the call to prayer. Attendees were seated on Bedouin-style carpets and pillows and had the opportunity to try traditional local Emirati dishes and learn more about the month of Ramadan and the tradition of fasting with an Emirati presenter. The experience also included a tour around the sikkas of the historic district and the visit of the Al Farooq masjid for an immersive Ramadan experience, followed by local desserts and an open Q&A session.
The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding offers a range of activities, from traditional cuisine to conversations with local Emiratis. With its motto Open Doors, Open Minds, all questions are welcome and answered.
