ICEX Spain Trade and Investments together with Economic & Commercial Office of Spain in Dubai organized TIC seminar during the past 16th and 17th of October.
The seminar took place in Dubai(EAU) emirate that has opted for new technologies with the same forcefulness which it was propose decades ago to be the regional leader in the logistics, tourism, construction and finance sectors.
Erik Rovina, Economic & Commercial Counsellor of Spain in UAE, opened the convention followed by Ghaith Rahman, Project Manager at Dubai Future Foundation, who gave a presentation about new projects.
The seminar was divided in two panels with Esteban Gomez, counselor in Nethis Telecom Group, as moderator. First panel was about strategic trends in the region, where speakers Alex Moya, General Manager of Indra; Francisco Salcedo, Senior Vice President in Etisalat Digital; Gonzalo Usandizaga, VP&GM Emerging Markets in Micro Focus; Maria de la Fuente, Partner Technology Strategist in Microsoft and Alfonso Cabas, Chief Operating Officer in Altran ME explained how they see the digital market in UAE. After a coffee break the second panel on digital solutions in the region started. In this case the speakers David Goldar, Managing Director in Televes; Ignacio Ruiz, Managing Director in Seidor MENA; Victor Usobiaga, Former Blockchain Business Development in IBM; Alberto Andres, Director Digital Center of Excellence in General Pension and Social Security Authority and Andreu Salvado, CEO &Owner at Aritmos told the guests their own experiences about opening or stablishing a company in Dubai.
Finally moderator, Esteban Gomez, summarized the seminar in some key points like Dubai is not an emergent market, it is competitive and mature; it is a place with lots of opportunities; to stablish a long term company or project is possible in the UAE; to find the right partner is very difficult; very important to have references to succeed; collaboration between companies is a must to survive and to be in Dubai is also a must to achieve your goals.
Jorge Alvar, director of infrastructure, health and ICT, Icex Spain Trade and Investments and H.E Antonio Alvarez Barthe, Ambassador of Spain to the UAE closed the seminar. Once it was finished the attendees had the opportunity to interact with the speakers one to one.
