IE Business School has organized a breakfast seminar with Professor, Balvinder Singh Powar about the power of innovation. The Professor explained how Attitude & Innovation at a personal and professional level are important for our success. Due to the world becoming a more volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous place, more and more companies are demanding that employees think out of the box in a proactive and dynamic way to find business solutions.
Professor highlighted how we should change our mindset, executing ideas is more complicated than having them. Nowadays we cannot predict the future but we can be prepare for it. We should reinforce our soft skills (emotions, ethics, values) more than the hard skills, because they will not be able to be replaced by machines and robots and due to that, soft skills are becoming more and more valued.
Our business success will be related with the balance between our soft and hard skills, having high and effective communication, get out of our comfort zone, test the market to validate the idea, and put the idea into action.
He talked about disruptive innovation like Uber or Airbnb, the importance of resilience to achieve our goals and how finding a market of people that it is not being served is sometimes the key, more than the idea itself.
Balvinder share his experience with an active, fun and lively session where participants have openly interacted.
