This year International Women´s Day celebration was dedicated to influential women in the region and we enjoyed of a very special morning at the Ritz-Carlton Dubai listening to inspiring experiences and bold moments in the Arab World. Spanish Business Council hosted this breakfast/roundtable supported by Multilem Middle East, Canadian Business Council, French Business Council and AHK UAE. The event was also sponsored by Versailles Dental Clinic.
The roundtable was presented by Irene García Lasala, Executive Director of Spanish Business Council and moderated by Maya Khelladi, Director Gulf Countries at CaixaBank, who ensured that all participants share their amazing paths. Among the attendees were H.E. Santiago Jiménez, Deputy Head of Mission & Consul at Embassy of Spain in UAE and Ricardo Fisas, Chairman of Spanish Business Council.
The panel discussion started with Lamia Dalle, Director of IE Business School, who described how vital educational level is to achieve professional goals. Then Tatiana Antonelli Abella, Founder and Managing Director of Goumbook, an organization aiming at raising awareness on Sustainability and Green Living, mentioned that women are more interested in the well being of the planet and she highlighted that we all should create our own opportunities. Consecutively Sandra Farrero, Group Director of Brand Strategy at Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, spoke openly about her bold moment when she overcame the difficulties and finally got promoted and she encouraged everyone to be committed, lead by example and treat all persons equally. Taking the floor next was Saleha Dao, Head of Business Development at ED&F Man Capital Markets who outlined the challenges of being a woman in Al Rajhi Bank, a Saudi bank owned by a family. Finally Maria Conceicao, Founder of Maria Cristina Foundation, shared with us her story full of obstacles, challenges and amazing achievements. The foundation has been effectively breaking the chains of inter-generation cycles of poverty through education in Dhaka, Bangladesh and currently supports 200 students.
The event is part of the #beboldforchange campaign to help drive better outcomes for women and create a more gender inclusive world.
